Monster Hunter Wilds Is Almost as Popular With Players as Baldur’s Gate 3 When It Released

Monster Hunter Wilds is currently the most recent game within the franchise. A franchise that has been very popular with many gens of gamers as well as all different ages. Not only is this game one that children enjoy on their Nintendo Switch, but one that hardcore gamer adults also enjoy playing to earn up all kinds of different armor or just hanging out with their friends, and now it is starting to show within the numbers as well.
The Monster Hunter franchise has been one that is pretty popular, but the newest game is ranking high in numbers in terms of players - so much so that it matches with Baldurs Gate 3 back when it was released. Without knowing what is in the future for the game, this is something that could be big for the future of the franchise.
How Popular Was Baldur’s Gate 3 When It First Released?
Baldur’s Gate 3 has touched the hearts of many gamers alike who love roleplaying games, especially those who are interested in Dungeons and Dragons-style games. BG3 was super popular upon its release, even during its early access launch that players had to pay extra for. The game became a Steam and GOG.com best seller and then won Game of the Year in 2023.

Shortly after Baldur’s Gate 3’s release, the game had about 537,000 concurrent players on its release day, and soon after it peaked just two weeks later reaching 875,000 players. The game itself sold over 2.5 million copies while just in early access, so any game coming even close to these numbers so quickly is a big deal.
After the game was fully released outside of early access, it sold over 10 million copies and was on its way to winning the reward of the Game of the Year, only getting it more attention. Sadly after, the studio let all its players know that a sequel would not be happening. However, with Monster Hunter Wilds being compared to Baldur’s Gate 3 in numbers is great for the franchise.
Monster Hunter Wilds Could Be The Next Baldur’s Gate 3
Monster Hunter Wilds has had a total of about 650,000 players almost every night, now being a little over two weeks from its launch day. That is already more than Baldur’s Gate 3 had during the same time range. This doesn’t mean the game would also win Game of the Year, especially with it only being three months into the new year, but it goes to show just how good the newest
installment is in the Monster Hunter franchise and how the veteran players are reacting to it and showing it love and praise.
It is worth noting that Baldur’s Gate 3 is still bringing in about 100,000 players almost every night even though the game was first released back in 2023, which is still a really good number, however, they are dipping over time. Both games have many similarities when it comes to being co-op games that are usually played single-player and also having unearthly plotlines that keep players submerged in the world created.
While we cannot tell exactly what the future holds for Monster Hunter Wilds, it is noticeable that the game is pleasing its audience and keeping players coming back for more and more which is what every developer wants to happen with their game. While the future is unknown, Monster Hunter Wilds is heading in a good direction compared to how Baldur’s Gate 3 did when it was first released not long ago.
