Pokemon Legends Z-A was announced back in February 2024 during one of the Nintendo Directs. This title is set to release this year, 2025, but unfortunately, a lot of fans feel very misguided after the release of the latest trailer.

Players have voiced their feedback about the trailer stating how it seems the city that the game takes place in feels too small compared to the usual setting of Pokemon games. For example, Pokemon Scarlet and Violet or even Pokemon Sword and Shield where the worlds players explored were massive.

Could Pokemon Legends Z-A Improve?

Two ex-Nintendo employees who used to be marketing leads have expressed how the upcoming RPG “doesn’t look great.” Kit Ellis and Krysta Yang, who now post videos about Nintendo to their YouTube channel used to work for the company. They expressed how they were excited about the leap from Scarlet and Violet to the new Legends Z-A games. However, what was seen in the trailer might not change at all before the game’s release.

Furthermore, Ellis also commented in their recent YouTube video about how he wants to see the game run better than Scarlet and Violet, which were probably the worst Pokemon games in terms of glitches, lag, and overall issues. They both expressed how they felt in the middle about what they saw in the trailer, not being amazed but not disappointed either.

It is worth noting that the game isn’t released until late 2025 for the Nintendo Switch, so the developers still have a lot of time to make changes and touch-ups to the game. But how likely is that? Yang, during their YouTube video, expressed how she is hoping that will polish the game a bit more before release, but Ellis pointed out how this is by the same company that still hasn’t fixed Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Ellis also took a deeper dive into how the developers just might be at the end of their ropes when it comes to their abilities with the software for the Nintendo Switch. He then went into how the Nintendo Switch 2 could be the time that the developers could finally step up to the next level in designing their games and better support with hopefully more advanced technology. Yang, discussing the possibility of Pokemon Legends Z-A getting a better graphics port for the Switch 2 is highly unlikely since it probably won’t be on the list of things to do once the console releases.
