Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest is a 2D sidescrolling platformer video game, and serves as the direct sequel to 1994's Donkey Kong Country. Once again developed by Rare, DKC2 introduces the new character of Dixie Kong, the girlfriend of Diddy Kong. This time around, Donkey Kong is the one who needs saving after he's kidnapped by King K. Rool, forcing Diddy and Dixie to team up and make their way through 52 levels to reach him. The game features the same pre-rendered backgrounds from before, and the same emphasis on being a 'Super Mario Bros.' take on Donkey Kong. The game's levels are filled with many secrets, enemies, and bosses, forcing players to utilize Diddy and Dixie's unique skillsets.
