Super Mario Bros. 3 is a platformer video game developed and published by Nintendo for the Nintendo Entertainment System (NES). It was originally released only on the PlayChoice-10 arcades in 1989 in the United States before getting an official release on the NES in 1990. Like as in other Super Mario games of the time, players control Mario or Luigi and must save Princess Toadstool from Bowser, but in this case, also the rulers of seven different kingdoms that have been transformed into different animals. This is the first game to introduce new enemies and mechanics that would become a staple of all soon-to-follow Super Mario games. All seven of Bowser's children made their first appearances in Super Mario Bros. 3.
