This page contains cheats, hints, Easter eggs, secrets, and tips for Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars. We will continually update this page when we come across more useful cheats and tips.
There are ways in the game to exploit the stars and keep using them over and over again to gain easy experience. Find anywhere that contains a save point right before obtaining a star from a trunk and get yourself killed after you use the star to level. You will return to the save point, but you will keep all your level gains, keep repeating this till you're satisfied with the experience you've gained.
You can reset the game without hitting reset on your console. While you're in-game hold L + R and press Start + Select. Make sure you're not currently viewing dialogue or this won't work for you.
In Rose Way, there is a room full of trunks that can be used to farm coins and mushrooms. Go here, gather all the coins and the mushroom in the trunks (it can be kept or sold for coins), exit the room, and come back. You will notice all the items have been reset and can be farmed again.
If you spend the night at the Rose Town Inn, you will find Link from The Legend of Zelda sleeping in the bed next to you.
On the second floor of Booster's Tower, you will see two curtains in one corner, go behind the curtains and you will be transformed into 8-Bit Mario from Super Mario Bros for the NES.
In Booster Tower, you will come across a puzzle that will want you to look at Booster's family portraits in order from oldest to youngest. The order you need to view the portraits is in the upstairs part of the main lobby of Boster Tower, but in case you missed it, the order is 6, 5, 3, 1, 2, 4. If you enter this correctly, you will get a key that allows you to enter the door next to the portraits. In the next room, you will find the weapon "Chomp" for Bowser. You won't replace Bowser's weapon for quite a while since this is a powerful one.
These are hidden items in the game that we think most people don't know about and will just miss altogether.
In the second area of the Forest Maze, you will see a wiggler going in and out of a tree stump. If you jump on his body 10 times without hitting the ground or triggering combat with him, you will be rewarded a frog coin.
