The Forest

The Forest is a first-person/survival video game in which you (Eric Leblanc) and your son crash land on a peninsula and must do whatever it takes to survive in the wilderness. Nonlinearity is the focus here, giving the player no explicit goals to follow or directions. Instead, it's up to you to figure out where to go, what to do, and what to craft in order to survive. Players can build things with enough materials, though they must be cautious of the mutated cannibals roaming around the island. While not always hostile, these foes can be incredibly dangerous, which also ties into the game's day/night cycle. The game was in early access for a handful of years, but it finally released in full in 2018.
